Testing task for Talbot - creators of multi-million dollar money-box
A specially-created acrylic case designed to hold £10 million ($20 million) for the 20/20 for 20 cricket prize, was created by north-London firm, Talbot Designs. Specialists in bespoke plastic and acrylic fabrication, Talbot was appointed by M-Integrated Solution who commissioned the box on behalf of Sportcel* - the exclusive marketing agency of the Stanford 20/20 and the 20/20 for 20.
This was the first time that the company had worked with Talbot Designs. Client Aidan Day of Sportcel commissioned the box to promote the astonishing cash prize which is to be divided between the members of the winning cricket teams during the next five years
.
Denis O'Shea, Talbot Designs' Commercial Manager, said: "We received a sketch and developed the unit to finished production for delivery to Lords
Cricket Ground on time despite there being a rather short lead time for the project. We were delighted that the box achieved so much national media attention".
The box, which featured in national newspapers was made from 10 mm clear-cast acrylic with fittings added to replicate a strong box. It was photographed at Lord's in the company of England coach, Peter Moores, Curtly Ambrose, Sir Ian Bothan, Sir Viv Richards and ECB chairman Giles Clark plus Sir Allen Stanford, the Texan billionaire whose prize donation this was. And for those with an eye for detail who don't often see a cool £10 million, the dimensions needed to encase such a sum were: 90cms in height, 100cms deep by 130cms wide.
